After more than a year of closure, Algeria reopens its borders

Do You Want to Travel to Algeria This Summer? Good News: Algeria Announces the Reopening of Its Borders!

Algeria travel

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, many countries had to close their borders. Tourism activity dropped sharply, but good news: from June 1st, travel to Algeria is possible again.

Some cities are still difficult to access. The first cities to reopen to tourists are Algiers, Constantine, and Oran.

Among these 3 cities, 2 of them are offered by our agency Bladia.com: Oran and Algiers.

The reopening of Algerian borders is a fresh breath for tourism, especially maritime tourism. Indeed, many of you use the ferry to reach Algeria. However, you will still need to take a PCR test less than 36 hours old due to health regulations.

Depending on your preferences, you can choose to depart from various French cities like Marseille, or Spanish cities like Valencia or Alicante, but for now, no confirmation on the reopening of maritime crossings. Note that departures from Spain are generally cheaper. You can discover our offers, crossings, and schedules on Bladia.com.

Algeria, as you know, is located at the top of Africa. The ideal departure point is Spain thanks to its geographic proximity. You can also start your trip from the south of France if you want to spend less time on the road. Note that the ferry trip will be longer, so it's best to prepare and have some comfort by booking a cabin.

Ferry travel

With the reopening of the borders, it’s the perfect time to use the ferry as a means of transportation to Algeria and discover a new way to travel, enjoy the architecture and the country’s culinary specialties. If you are a foodie, click on Tripadvisor for a preview of what awaits you.

Regarding architecture, we invite you to visit the Hamma Botanical Gardens, the Basilica of Our Lady of Africa, or the Santa Cruz chapel. Other exceptional sites are must-sees; for more information click here.

Between France and Algeria, there are 4 ferry routes, with 11 crossings per week, including 2 routes operated by Corsica Linea. Algeria Ferries serves 4 routes. Mediterranean crossings are a solution that will cost you a bit more: meals are not included and the trip lasts 22 hours. There are activities to do on the boat, so consider these when planning your itinerary.

The best option is to depart from Spain because the trip will be cheaper and shorter (13 hours if you leave from Alicante). Also, hotels are cheaper in Spain and close to the highways. All advantages!

We are here to advise you best to organize your dream holiday at a lower cost. That’s why, if you want to travel to Algeria by ferry, you can go directly to Bladia.com either to book your crossing yourself or to contact one of our advisors and get a quote based on your budget, departure time and day, and the latest information. Think about booking several months in advance to possibly benefit from advantageous rates.

Do you still have holiday vouchers from last year? Don’t forget they can be used this year to book your tickets via our site bladia.com and go enjoy the sun, the beaches, and reunions. Don’t hesitate any longer — your suitcases and sunglasses are waiting for you!
