From what age can children travel alone?
The conditions of travel for unaccompanied children depend on the ferry company with which you wish to travel.
In addition, legally, a minor child residing in France and traveling alone or with someone other than his parents must be provided with an authorization to leave the territory (AST). It is a form established and signed by a parent (or legal guardian).
A child who travels abroad without being accompanied by one of his parents must have the following documents:
- Valid identity document of the minor: identity card or passport, possibly accompanied by a visa if the country of destination requires it (to be verified by consulting the country sheets of the diplomatie.gouv.fr site).
- Photocopy of the identity card or passport of the signatory parent. The title must be valid or out of date for less than 5 years.
- Original form cerfa No. 15646 * 01 signed by one of the parents with parental authority (which you can find on the site service-public.fr).
